Edna C. Stevens School

Early Childhood Screening

Twice a month the preschool team conducts a developmental screening. The preschool team includes the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, an Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, a Speech and Language Pathologist, and a School Psychologist.

This screening is available to any resident of the town of Cromwell with a child aged 3 and 4.

This screening is used to assess your child’s current development.  The screening is also a part of Child Find, a component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that requires states to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities, aged birth to 21, who are in need of early intervention or special education.
Screenings are held twice a month and typically take about 45 minutes.  While children attend the screening, parents meet with a member of the staff outside the classroom.

If you have any concerns about your child’s development, please call (860) 632-4866 to set up an appointment for you and your child to attend the screening, or contact us below.

Thanks! Message sent. A representative from the school will contact you shortly.
