Screening

Twice a month the preschool team conducts a developmental screening. The preschool team includes the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, an Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, a Speech and Language Pathologist, and a School Psychologist.  

This screening is available to any resident of the town of Cromwell with a child aged 3 and 4. 

This screening is used to assess your child’s current development.  The screening is also a part of Child Find, a component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that requires states to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities, aged birth to 22, who are in need of early intervention or special education.
 
Screenings are held two twice a month in the morning and typically take about 45 minutes. While your child attends the screening, a parent/guardian meets with a member of the screening team outside the screening room.
