Edna C. Stevens School

Early Childhood

Screening

Twice a month the preschool team conducts a developmental screening. The preschool team includes the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, an Occupational Therapist, a Physical Therapist, a Speech and Language Pathologist, and a School Psychologist.

This screening is available to any resident of the town of Cromwell with a child aged 3 and 4.

This screening is used to assess your child’s current development.  The screening is also a part of Child Find, a component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that requires states to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities, aged birth to 22
, who are in need of early intervention or special education.

Screenings are held two twice a month in the morning and typically take about 45 minutes. While your child attends the screening, a parent/guardian meets with a member of the screening team outside the screening room.

If you have any concerns about your child’s development, please call (860) 632-4866 to set up an appointment for you and your child to attend the screening, or contact us below.
